16 August 2007 - In a statement to the Jakarta Stock Exchange, PT Unilever Indonesia, the Indonesian branch of Unilever said it has acquired the remaining 35% stake of ketcup producer PT Anugrah Lever from PT Anugrah Indah Pelangi and PT Anugrah Samai Pratama.
PT Unilever Indonesia was already a majority holder of the company with a 65% share.
PT Anugrah Lever produces the popular ketchup brand “Kecap Bango”.
In December 2006, FLEXNEWS reported that PT Unilever Indonesia’s corporate secretary, Franky Jamin, said his company was actively planning to acquire more brands in order to strengthen its presence in the Indonesian market.
"We are negotiating with a number of companies," Jamin said at the time.
According to the press reports, the last brand the company acquired was Taro snacks, produced by PT Rasa Murni Utama, in 2003.
