Orkla's Felix Abba to Acquire Kalev Chocolate Factory in Estonia


5 May 2010 - Felix Abba, a subsidiary of Orkla Foods, has signed an agreement to acquire Estonian confectionery maker Kalev Chocolate Factory. The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

The deal includes Kalev Chocolate Factory's plant in Juri, in the south of Tallinn, as well as the business segments for the production of cookies and flour mixes in Estonia.

"This acquisition is an important step in the expansion of our confectionery business, as it gives us good growth and value creation possibilities in the Estonian market and provides a platform for expanding confectionery in Finland and the Baltic region," said Clas Göran Hagström, Managing Director of Orkla Foods Fenno-Baltic.

The deal is subject to the approval of the Estonian competition authorities.
