Veghel, 4 September 2007 - Sligro Food Group N.V. and Desimo B.V., part of Alberco Holding B.V., expect to reach agreement on the acquisition by Sligro B.V. of Desimo's catering and institutional wholesaling activities in Leeuwarden. Desimo's wholesale bakery activities are not included in the transaction. The activities to be transferred, which generate sales of over Euro 6 million, will be relocated to Sligro's delivery-service base in Drachten.
Sligro will also take over the 6,000 m2 site on Celsiusweg in Leeuwarden, where it plans to establish a full-range cash-and carry operation, including perishables. Sligro expects to open the new unit in Leeuwarden, where it does not currently have a presence, in early 2008. Sligro currently has 43 cash-and-carry outlets. More than 25 of Desimo’s staff will be transferring to Sligro.
In accordance with the mergers code of the Social and Economic Council (SER), notification of the transaction has been given and the Staff Council of Sligro Food Group has been invited to give its recommendation.
Sligro Food Group, a listed company, encompasses foodservice and food retail companies selling directly and indirectly to the entire Dutch food and beverage market. Sligro Food Group aims to be a dependable, high-quality company achieving managed growth in all its activities and for all its stakeholders. Sales in 2006 totalled €1,661 million, generating a net profit of €62 million. The average number of employees on a full-time-equivalent basis was almost 3,700.
