Local press reports say that 271 factory employees will be affected by the closure.

However, in a statement, Ajinomoto said that it views the Philippines as a very important market and will remain as a long-term investor in the country. Moving forward, APC will focus on the sales and marketing of MSG and the range of other Ajinomoto food products throughout the Philippines.

APC has 500 employees and more than 600,000 wholesalers and retailers in the Philippines.
