Tegucigalpa, Oct 1 - Honduras shipped 9.9 percent more coffee abroad in the 2006/07 export cycle compared with the previous cycle, the national coffee institute said on Monday, as a scheme to boost production began to take effect.
Honduras exported 3.22 million bags of coffee in the 12-month period, the institute said.
Central America's second biggest coffee grower, the country exported 104,958 bags of coffee in September, the last month of the 2006/07 cycle.
Honduras plans to ramp up production over the next few years by increasing yields through farm care and increased fertilization.
