3 October 2007 - Ukraine's leading sweet manufacturer, Roshen Confectionery Corporation's new workshop at its Vinnitsa facility has started production, said the company's development director Evgenyi Vovchanovsky.
The construction of the Vinnitsa workshop, which started in April 2006, cost USD 40 million, FLEXNEWS said last year.
The workshop has 4 production lines for about 25 varieties of waffles and sweets with the capacity to produce 4,500 tons daily.
Vovchanovsky also announced that Roshen was considering investing a further USD 119 million in the construction of a chocolate manufacturing facility, also at the Vinnitsa site.
The firm is currently working on the design of the new chocolate plant and expects to complete the construction by 2010.
The new facility will have a monthly production capacity of 10,000 tonnes of chocolate, according to preliminary estimates.
FLEXNEWS also reported in December 2006 that the confectionery firm was close to finishing a 5-year project to rebuild its Kiev plant and is working on a modern 60,000m2 logistics centre on the site, which is scheduled to open in 2008.
Roshen Confectionery Corporation is the largest Ukrainian confectionery manufacturer employing over 10,000 people. Its factories in Kiev, Vinnitsa, Mariupol and Kremenchug produce about 30% of all Ukrainian confectionery.
The company’s product range comprises more than 200 kinds of sweets, chocolates, sugar candies, cookies, waffles, fruit jellies and cakes. The total production volume is estimated at 200,000 tons of confectionery per year.
Roshen is an affiliate of the Kiev-based Ukrainian Industrial and Investment Concern (Ukrprominvest).
