US Hedge Fund Increases Stake in American Italian Pasta Company

9 October 2007 - Hedge fund Jana Partners has increased its stake in American Italian Pasta Company from 6% to 14%.

In a filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the firm said it now owns more than 2.56 million shares of American Italian.

American Italian is a leading pasta producer in the United States, however it has not made a financial filing in the past two years and is expected to have to restate financials going back to 2000. The company recently completed an internal accounting review.
