Dutch Workers at Unilever to Start Strike at 2000 GMT (DJ)

Amsterdam, Oct. 10 - Dutch workers at Unilever NV will start a 40-hour strike Wednesday at 2000 GMT, labor union FNV Bondgenoten said Wednesday.

The union said negotiations with Unilever towards a collective labor agreement and a redundancy plan have failed. The strike is aimed at strengthening the union's demand for job securities in the Netherlands.

Unilever Tuesday said it is planning to shut down three of its factories in the Netherlands by the end of 2008, resulting in around 474 job cuts.
