Stratham, New Hampshire, Oct. 11 - Lindt & Sprungli, the world's leading producer of premium chocolate, today announced the completion of the multi-million dollar expansion of its U.S. headquarters and production facility in Stratham, N.H. This project will now make Lindt one of the largest employers on the New Hampshire seacoast.
Lindt USA, which has experienced robust year-after-year growth and increased consumer demand, added an additional 300,000 square feet of space to its facility, providing increased production and storage capabilities. Domestically, Lindt currently produces their Lindor Truffle collection and imports a variety of other products, including chocolate bars and hollow figures from its sister companies. The expansion will also generate hundreds of local jobs.
The Lindt expansion project comes on the heels of major category growth in the premium chocolate market. According to international research firm ACNielsen, the premium chocolate market grew 24 percent in the last year while the overall chocolate market saw a 3.9 percent increase.
"We are also planning future expansion efforts in the coming years to accommodate the impressive growth of the premium chocolate category in the U.S.," said Thomas Linemayr, chief executive officer and president of LindtUSA. "This steady investment will drive our ability to continue delivering the highest-quality chocolate using the finest ingredients."
Construction on Lindt's U.S. headquarters and production facility was led by The Dacon Corporation based in Natick, Mass.
