17 October, 2007 – Conjecture that Carrefour is to sell off several of its hypermarkets and cash and carry outlets in Italy in a deal reputedly worth 1 billion euro persists today.
But the French supermarket giant declined to make a comment to FLEXNEWS about rumours in the Italian media and elsewhere of plans off-load 11 cash-and-carries in the north of the country as well as 17 hypermarkets in the south.
Reports have identified a number of potential buyers, including French outfit Auchan, and claimed that expressions of interest should be registered by October 22.
