25 October 2007 - German confectionery company Haribo is expected move its main production site from Bonn to Rheinbach, also in the Land of North-Rhine Westphalia, reports the German business media. The transfer is believed to concern about 1,350 employees.
The move comes 8 months after FLEXNEWS reported that Haribo was planning to move its headquarters from Bonn to another location. At the time the gum sweet manufacturer was considering Rheinbach and Grafschaft-Gelsdorf (Rhineland-Palatinate).
Grafschaft-Gelsdorf was eventually ruled out, say the business reports.
Established in 1920, Haribo is a large manufacturer of gummy and jelly sweets. The company has 5 factories in Germany and 13 throughout the rest of Europe.
The name of the company is to be retained following the move, although it is an abbreviation of Hans Riegel Bonn.
