8 November, 2007 - Russian dairy producer Unimilk has acquired CJSC Tikhoretsky canned baby meat plant, according to local media reports - its second such purchase in three months.
The company completed the buy-out of the Krasnodar-based operation last week, which was a subsidiary of CJSC Myasokombinat Tikhoretsky, in a deal thought to be worth US$20-30 million.
In spring 2006, Unimilk signed an agreement to become sole distributor for CJSC Myasokombinat Tikhoretsky’s baby food.
As FLEXNEWS reported in September, the latest purchase comes on top of Unimilk’s acquisition of the Tip-Top trademark from baby food producer the First Baby Food Plant.
Unimilk was established in 2002 and has 29 dairies in Russia and two in the Ukraine. It currently has a 15 pct share of the Russian dairy market.
