Ball Says to Build Beverage Can Plant in India

New York, Nov 8 - Ball Corp, which makes plastic and metal packaging, said on Thursday it plans to build a beverage can factory in India.

The company expects the plant, which will begin production by mid-2009, will be built near Aurangabad in the state of Maharashtra. It said it has nearly finished application procedures with governmental agencies there.

The plant is projected to begin operation with one manufacturing line able to produce about 600 million cans a year.

The company did not disclose any details about how much the plant will cost to build.
