12 December 2007 - Dutch Royal Smilde Food's French bakery subsidiary Délices du Palais plans to re-open its Renaison manufacturing plant further to a fire which forced the company to stop production at the site in late July.
The fire struck the manufacturing plant in Renaison, near Roanne (Loire department) on 30 July 2007.
The French press reports that Royal Smilde will invest a total 15 million euro to re-build the Renaison plant, which is expected to start operations again in mid-2008.
Established in 1970, Délices du Palais is leading French fresh bakery company. The company acquired the Renaison facility in 1986 and owns another plant in Septeuil (Yvelines department). The company has an annual turnover of 35 million euro.
The news comes a few weeks after FLEXNEWS reported that Belgian food group Vandemoortele's French bakery subsidiary Croustifrance announced it would build a new 15,000m2 frozen bread facility near Arras, northern France.
