China to Cancel Tax Rebates on Some Grains Exports Dec 20 (DJ)

Shanghai, Dec. 17 - China's Ministry of Finance said Monday it will cancel the value-added tax rebates on exports of wheat, corn, rice, soybeans and flour made from the products effective Dec. 20.

The changes, which aim to curb exports of the products and therefore increase domestic supply, came after China's consumer price index hit an 11-year high in November, driven by rapid growth of grains and food prices.
