Carrefour Could Sell Discount Businesses - Report

Paris, Dec. 20 - French retailer Carrefour is studying the sale of its discount supermarket businesses Dia and Ed for around 4 billion euros ($5.75 billion), Les Echos newspaper reported on Thursday.

Les Echos, in a summary of an article due to be published in its Friday edition, said the idea of a sale had been circulated to banks without any formal decision having been taken.

"The group has no comment to make on this report," said a spokeswoman for Carrefour, the world's second largest retailer.
