21 December 2007 - Wells' Dairy Inc., a yoghurt and ice cream manufacturer, is selling its Le Mars, Iowa milk plant to Dean Foods Co., according to local media reports.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
The sale is consistent with the family-owned group’s goal to move into the top three of America’s ice cream and frozen novelties brands.
Dean, the US largest milk and dairy processor, reportedly plans to continue operating the plant, which currently employs about 180 staff.
