Amsterdam, Jan. 7 - Anglo-Dutch Retailer Unilever said in a press statement Monday that it will officially start Unilever Benelux, or a new form of cooperation between the country organisations of Unilever Belgium BVBA and Unilever Nederland B.V.
Unilever Benelux will now serve the Belgian, Dutch and Luxembourg markets as one of the first 'Multi Country Organisations' to be set up within Unilever Europe. Via this form of cross-border cooperation Unilever aims to speed up its growth, boost its competitive strength and reduce its cost base.
The Unilever disciplines in Belgium and the Netherlands have a Benelux responsibility as from Monday. The newly integrated functional departments will therefore work for all three countries. The marketing discipline, for example, will focus its brand-building activities on the Belgian, Dutch and Luxembourg market as a whole, as will all other disciplines.
Only the retail sales organisations will continue to operate locally so that they can offer direct and optimum service to their customers. Unilever Benelux is located in Belgium (Brussels) and in the Netherlands (Rotterdam). The Luxembourg market will be served from Belgium.
