Melbourne, Jan. 9 - Cadbury Schweppes PLC Wednesday denied rumors it may sell its Australian and New Zealand beverages business.

A Cadbury spokeswoman in Melbourne said media reports about a sale of the unit were speculation.

"We don't have any plans to sell it," she said.

U.K.-based Cadbury Schweppes has said it plans to spin off its Americas drinks business, which will list on the New York Stock Exchange early this year.

This had prompted speculation it may also sell its Australian and New Zealand beverages unit, which holds brands including Pepsi, Gatorade and Red Bull.

Brewers Foster's Group Ltd., Lion Nathan Ltd. and rival soft drinks maker Coca-Cola Amatil Ltd. would likely be interested in the business.
