25 January 2008 – Les Crudettes, a subsidiary of Pomona, is to close its Saint Charles, Perpignan, salad and herbs packaging plant, according to local media reports.

The site isn’t profitable enough, according to the reports, and will close at the end of March 2008. Some 70 Les Crudettes workers will be laid off in the process.

The plant’s salad packaging operations had been transferred to a new production facility near Madrid in April 2007.

Meanwhile, at Bakkavor subsidiary Crudi’s salad and fruit salad packaging plant nearby, staff agreed to return to work after a pay-motivated strike slowed down production for three days.
