Russian Ban Might Impact India's Tea, Coffee Exports (DJ)

New Delhi, Jan. 28 - Russia's decision to ban agricultural imports from India from Jan. 28 due to concerns of beetle infestation might impact Indian tea and coffee exports to Russia, the Mint newspaper reported Monday.

According to D.P. Maheswari, president of industry body United Planters Association of Southern India, Russia is a major market for Indian tea and coffee exports, especially higher quality orthodox tea.

However, the ban wouldn't be justified because the pests aren't found in tea and coffee, he said.
