30 January 2008 - French dairy co-operative Armoricaine Laitière has entered the functional yoghurt drink market, local media report.
The small Brittany-based co-op has launched its Perle d’Or drink locally in a bid to test the market. The drink contains 50% more omega 3 than standard milk thanks to the addition of linseed to the dairy cows’ diet.
Armoricaine Laitière currently produces five to six tonnes of Perle d’Or a month from the milk supplied by five dairy herds and plans to rapidly increase production to ten tonnes.
Armoricaine Laitière employs 65 staff, collects 37 million litres of milk from 110 suppliers and achieved a 22-million euro turnover in 2007.
