18 February 2008 – Mexican food and beverage manufacturer Grupo Lala has postponed plans to reopen the Lovington, New Mexico, cheese factory, according to local media reports.
Dairy Farmers of America Inc closed the Lovington plant, which had been producing 40 million pounds of cheddar annually since its opening, in April 2007 because it was running at a loss.
Lala announced the reopening of the plant in October 2007, as reported on FLEXNEWS. It is now blaming delays within the company for the setback, add the reports.
