Sao Paulo, Feb. 19 - Brazilian frozen concentrated orange juice exporters shipped 115,225 metric tons in January, up from 107,067 in December and 113,711 in November, the Association of Brazilian Citrus Exporters, Abecitrus, reported.
Abecitrus director Ademerval Garcia was unavailable for immediate comment on the numbers, which were made available on the group's Web site.
Asian markets saw a considerable drop in FCOJ imports from Brazil in January, down to 4,121 tons, the lowest volume in seven months.
Meanwhile, North American and European markets are holding relatively steady. North American buyers, which include Canada and the U.S., imported 24,594 tons, down from the 27,246 tons in December and up slightly from the 23,535 tons in November.
The E.U. imported 75,116 tons of Brazilian FCOJ, up from 49,936in December, but similar to November and October export volume.
Brazil is the world's leading FCOJ exporter.
In 2007, Brazilian juice makers Cutrale and Louis Dreyfus Commodities, among others, shipped 1.4 million tons of FCOJ to world markets.
The E.U. accounts for more than half, importing 874,489 tons, followed by North American markets importing 274,480 tons and Asia at 138,348 tons, according to Abecitrus.
While the E.U. and North American markets imported more FCOJ from Brazil in 2007, Asia imported less.
In 2006, Asia imported 145,305 tons, according to Abecitrus figures.
