25 February 2008 - Ukraine's leading sweet manufacturer, Roshen Confectionery Corporation plans to invest 40 million euro in the development of its production this year, according to local media sources.
Roshen is expected to use the investment funds for the reconstruction of its factories in the Vinnitsia region and in Lipetsk, Russia.
In October 2007, FLEXNEWS reported that Roshen started production at its Vinnitsa facility. However, it is reported that the plant is operating at 70% of its capacity at present. The reconstruction of the enterprise will be completed this year.
Roshen Confectionery Corporation is the largest Ukrainian confectionery manufacturer employing over 10,000 people. Its factories in Kiev, Vinnitsa, Mariupol and Kremenchug produce about 30% of all Ukrainian confectionery.
The company’s product range comprises more than 200 kinds of sweets, chocolates, sugar candies, cookies, waffles, fruit jellies and cakes. The total production volume is estimated at 200,000 tons of confectionery per year.
Roshen boosted production by 13% or by 40,000 tons over 2006, to 350,000 tons in 2007, add the sources.
