10 March 2008 – Bristol-based dairy co-op Milk Link is to axe up to 45 jobs at its Kirkcudbright, Scotland plant as well as up to a quarter of the jobs at its Crediton, Devon facility, according to UK media reports.
Some 130 staff currently work at the firm’s Kirkcudbright plant, where two years ago 34 jobs were lost. The plant produces Scottish Pride brand items for the retail and food service sectors.
The job cuts are blamed on the loss of several supermarket contracts.
The news comes a month after Milk Link and First Milk agreed not to proceed with a proposed merger of the two companies, as reported on FLEXNEWS.
