12 March 2008 – Italian dairy major Parmalat S.p.A. may delay the acquisition of Spin Knit Dairy, Ltd., Kenya's third largest milk processor, in the wake of widespread violence in the East African country, according to media reports.
The acquisition of Spin Knit Dairy was approved by Parmalat’s board at the end of 2007. Financial details of the deal weren’t disclosed at the time.
The takeover, when it takes place, will mark Parmalat’s first foray into East Africa.
The Italian company is now rumoured to be interested in Australian co-op Dairy Farmers.
