14 March 2008 - Workers at an Illinois Unilever Bestfoods factory were evacuated yesterday after they were exposed to fumes from battery acid, reports the local press.
7 of the workers at Unilever Bestfoods’ sauce and soup plant in Franklin Park had to be taken to hospital, local reports say.
Firefighters discovered that an electric forklift was leaking battery acid, producing fumes that caused breathing problems as well as watery eyes and chest tightness for some 30 employees.
