31 March 2008 - Belgian brewing giant Inbev is to shed up to 166 jobs at its Stella Artois plant in Lancashire in a bid to increase efficiency and cut costs, according to local media reports.
The brewer has blamed the cuts at the Samlesbury plant, near Preston, on falling sales of Stella Artois and rising energy and raw material costs.
Some 380 people currently work at the Samlesbury brewery, which also produces Tennent's Lager, Boddingtons and Castlemaine XXXX. Brewing of Stella Artois would continue at the site, but with fewer staff, add the reports.
An additional 80 jobs are also reported to be under threat in Magor, South Wales.
