Mumbai, April 11 - India's basmati rice exports in the calendar year ending December are likely to remain unchanged at 1.2 million metric tons from the previous year, despite good international demand, a senior official with the country's largest rice exporter by volume said Friday.
"Although demand is strong and prices are high, India's basmati exports are likely to be stable as the output remains the same," R.S. Seshadri, director of Tilda Riceland, told reporters on the sidelines of an industry event.
He also said rice complex prices are unlikely to fall as there is a huge demand from Indonesia, with the government continuing to build buffer stocks.
