April 14 - KOO wishes to advise the public that as a precautionary measure, it is recalling all imported 2007 stock of 215g and 410g KOO French Style Green Beans.
Certain batches of the 2007 imported 215g and 410g French Style Green Beans have been discovered to have defective can seams. The defective seams may result in micro-organisms entering the can, which may lead to product spoilage. If this product is consumed the effect on the person eating the product could vary from no effect, a mild stomach upset to food poisoning, depending on the type of spoilage organism concerned.
No consumer complaints have been received on any of the affected batches to date.
It is, however, considered appropriate to recall all the stock, sold and unsold, as a precautionary measure. Managing Executive for KOO, Zin Mabaso, states that: “Our concern for our KOO consumers and our adherence to the highest quality standards for all our KOO products, underpins the precautionary decision to withdraw all the 2007 stock of 215g and 410g KOO French Style Green Beans products from retail stores and consumer homes. We regret the inconvenience that this may cause to retailers and consumers, but safety to consumers is our biggest concern. Consumers are invited to call our Customer Care Line and all defective stock will be uplifted and compensation provided. Trade customers will be either reimbursed or provided with an alternative acceptable product. We are making every effort to ensure that fresh, good stock of French Style Green Beans will be available to our consumers as rapidly as possible.”
