Belarus to Build Six Whey Processing Plants by 2009

14 April 2008 – Belarus is to build six whey processing plants by 2009 as part of efforts to modernize its dairy industry, Prime Minister Syarhey Sidorski was reported as saying.

The project, evaluated at BR130 million (USD 60.9 million), will be discussed at the next meeting of the Council of Ministers, Belarusian media report.

The aim is to create “a waste-free milk processing system” in Belarus, said Mr Sidorski, who added that the modernization of the Belarussian dairy sector was advancing ahead of schedule and should be complete in 2009, not in 2010 as initially planned.
