PURCHASE, NEW YORK, Oct. 11, 2005 -- PepsiCo announced today that Salman Amin, the company's most senior international marketing executive, will become president of PepsiCo UK and Ireland.
Amin succeeds Martin Glenn, who after a successful 13-year career with PepsiCo, has chosen to leave to pursue other career opportunities within the U.K. Glenn had declined offers of senior PepsiCo positions outside the U.K.
“I have enjoyed my time at Walkers and PepsiCo immensely and feel privileged to have worked with such talented teams over the years,” said Glenn. “I believe that PepsiCo U.K. has a great future. And while the decision to leave has been very difficult, I feel that now it is time to seek a new challenge.”
“Martin has made many very significant contributions to our success over the course of his career,” said Mike White, PepsiCo International chairman and chief executive officer. “He's an exceptional leader whose insight and perspective I value highly and will certainly miss. All of us at PepsiCo wish him the very best.”
Since Glenn assumed responsibility for Walkers it has grown to be the biggest brand in the U.K., and under his leadership of PepsiCo U.K., all of the company's principal brand groups -- Walkers, Pepsi, Tropicana and Quaker -- have grown. Glenn also has led efforts to address growing consumer interest in health and wellness, by developing new products, improving the nutritional profile of many existing products and taking a prominent role in public debate.
“Salman Amin is extraordinarily well equipped to assume the reins of our businesses in the U.K. and Ireland,” White said. “He's a very strategic thinker with extensive international experience developing markets for a range of consumer products. He also brings extensive first-hand knowledge of both our snack and beverage businesses.”
Amin brings to his new role a broad range experience in consumer products, including PepsiCo's largest businesses, snacks and beverages. As senior vice president of marketing for PepsiCo International, he has been responsible for marketing all PepsiCo brands outside the U.S. and Canada. Previously he served as senior vice president responsible for marketing international snacks. He joined PepsiCo in 1995 as vice president of marketing for Pepsi-Cola International.
Prior to PepsiCo, Amin worked at Procter & Gamble, where he built consumer product lines across a range of international markets, including the U.S., Germany, Asia and the Middle East. He holds an MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University in the U.S.
The leadership transition will be completed by February 2006.
