Dean Foods to Close Dairy Plant in Pennsylvania

18 April 2008 – Some 80 people will be losing their jobs when the Fairmont Products dairy plant in Belleville, Pennsylvania closes in October, local media report.

Dean Foods, the US’s largest processor and distributor of milk and dairy products, will be moving production to another plant, a spokesperson for the company was reported as saying

The Belleville plant manufactures mostly cottage cheese and ice cream.

It is still unclear what will happen to the dairy farmers who currently supply the plant with milk.
