21 April 2008 - Ukraine's leading sweet manufacturer Roshen Confectionery Corporation saw its Q1 2008 sales grow by 34% to 116 million euro, reports the Ukrainian media.
Roshen reportedly sold 85,000 tons of sweets during the January-March 2008 period, up 15% on the year, 60,000 tons of which were sold on the domestic market.
In February, FLEXNEWS reported that Roshen was planning to invest 40 million euro in the development of its production this year. The company is expected to use the investment funds for the reconstruction of its factories in the Vinnitsia region and in Lipetsk, Russia.
Roshen Confectionery Corporation is the largest Ukrainian confectionery manufacturer employing over 10,000 people. Its factories in Kiev, Vinnitsa, Mariupol and Kremenchug produce about 30% of all Ukrainian confectionery.
The company’s product range comprises more than 200 kinds of sweets, chocolates, sugar candies, cookies, waffles, fruit jellies and cakes. The total production volume is estimated at 200,000 tons of confectionery per year.
