6 May 2008 – Robert Wiseman Dairies has decided that it will go ahead with its plan to phase out milk processing at the group's Pensilva dairy in Cornwall, local media report.
Some 56 jobs will go as a result of the decision, which came at the end of a consultation period with staff and unions. Pensilva Dairy’s distributive operation will continue.
A spokesperson for Robert Wiseman Dairies said too much investment would have been required for fresh milk processing to go on at the plant.
