Melbourne, May 9 - National Foods, an Australian dairy and juice producer, has told the competition regulator it is willing to divest assets if necessary to gain approval for its bid for rival dairy firm Dairy Farmers, the regulator said.
National Foods, owned by Japanese brewer Kirin Holdings, made an initial offer for milk and cheese producer Dairy Farmers in March, in a deal that could be worth A$800-A$1 billion ($750-$945 million).
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said on its website it has postponed a decision on the deal until July 3, after it has assessed comments by competitors and suppliers to both firms. ($1=A$1.06)
