The Podravka Group Has Increased Its Revenues by HRK 67 Million in the First Three Months of 2008

May 8 - In the first quarter sales revenue of the Podravka Group amounted to HRK 784 million which is an increase of HRK 67 million or 9% compared to the the achieved results in the same period of the year 2007.

• The total sales of the Podravka Group in the first quarter amounted to HRK 784 million which is an increase of 9%

• On Croatian market the sales growth of 6% was achieved whereas on the foreign markets the sales growth of 14% was achieved

• The Strategic Business Area (SBA) Food and Beverages recorded sales growth of 9%, while the SBA Pharmaceuticals recorded sales growth of 10%

• The sales of Podravka Brands amounted to HRK 552 million which is an increase of 17%

• The net profit of the Podravka Group amounted to HRK 16 million in the first quarter which is an increase of 6%


The sales of the SBA Food and beverages in the first quarter amounted to HRK 648 million which represents sales increase of HRK 56 million or 9% sales growth.

All product groups within the Podravka brands of the SBA Food and Beverages achieved sales growth. The biggest growth was achieved in the product group Beverages (67%). The Meat products and canned fish group products achieved the sales growth of 25%, the products group Baby food, sweets and snacks achieved the 13% and the Food seasonings 10% compared to the same period last year.

The SBA Pharmaceuticals achieved an increase of sales in the amount of HRK 12 million or 10% compared to the same period last year and thus registered the sales revenue in the amount of HRK 134 million.

When discussing the markets of the Podravka Group, on Croatian market the sales growth amounts to HRK 402 million which represents the sales increase of 6% and thus makes the 51% of total sales revenues of the Podravka Group. The sales growth of SBA Food and Beverages of 5% has been generated by a vigorous growth of sales of Podravka Brands (20%) with reaching double-digit growth levels of all product groups. With the expiration of the contract regarding distribution of Nestlé products the sales of commercial goods on the Croatian market has registered a drop of sales in the amount of HRK 45 million which was completely compensated by a growth of Podravka brands.

The SBA Pharmaceuticals achieved 75% of sales on the Croatian market and in the observed period achieved an growth of sales of 7%. The most significant sales growth achieved the prescribed drugs with affect on digestive system and substance exchange (51%), whereas in the OTC group of products the double sales growth was achieved in the group of diet products.

The foreign markets of the Podravka Group achieved sales in the amount of HRK 382 million whcih is an increase of 14%. The highest sales growth was recorded on the market of Eastern Europe which primarily consists of the sales growth of SBA Food and Beverages of 21% The sales of SBA Food and Beverages recorded sales growth on the foreign markets of 13%. The highest sales growth was recorded on the market of Southeast Europe (18%) and on the market of Central Europe (17%). The highest foreign sales growth of SBA Pharmaceuticals was achieved on the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina (75%) primarily by sales of drugs group with effects on heart and blood system and the nerve system.
