Nestle to Build 63 Mln Euro Coffee Capsule Plant in Spain

9 May 2008 - According to the Spanish press, Nestle is intending to build a new plant in the province of Girona to produce its Dolce Gusto espresso coffee capsules.

The Swiss multinational food group is understood to be investing 63 million euro in the project.

The new plant will be designed to produce up to 500 million capsules per annum. Around 70% of its output will be shipped to Portugal, France, Italy, Mexico and Japan.

It is expected to start operations between September and October 2009, add the press reports.

It is also expected that approximately 100 jobs will be created and that new employees will be trained at Nestle’s British coffee plant in Tutbury.

Nestle Espana reported 1.952 billion euro in sales for 2007, up 5.4% year-on-year.
