13 May 2008 - French cheese maker Bongrain will sell its Gouaix (Seine-et-Marne department) facility to poultry producing company Duc on 1 July.
The plant, which employs 58 people, mainly produces bread-crumbed products.
However, both firms will work together in elaborating bread-crumbed products containing both poultry meat and cheese (cordons bleus…), Duc said in a statement.
The news comes a few weeks after FLEXNEWS reported that Bongrain posted an 11.7% rise in first quarter turnover, up from 791.2 million euros to 899.1 million euros.
For the group’s cheese operations, the first quarter was marked by a price increase aimed at absorbing raw material price rises. Some of Bongrain’s markets may see a slow down in demand as a result. Other dairy operations maintained their progression despite a strong euro.
