13 May 2008 - Romanian ice cream producer Alpin 57 Lux plans to increase its domestic market share from the current 15-17% to 25% in the next 2 to 3 years, reports the Romanian financial press, which estimates the local ice cream market's retail sales at 100 million euro.
Competing with companies such as Nestle, Friesland Foods and several domestic producers (Betty Ice, Top Gel and Kubo Ice), Alpin hopes to reach its target initially investing 4 million euro in logistics this year.
For 2008, the company expects a turnover of 15 million euro and a 12% sales increase compared to 2007. Last year, the company had already recorded a 26% rise in ice cream sales.
Established in 1994 and based in Sebes, Alpin has a production capacity of 50 tons per day. However, its facility runs 7 months per year due to the high seasonality ice cream.
