Laval, Quebec, May 13 - Reynolds Food Packaging announced today that it will close its manufacturing plant in Laval, in the fourth quarter of this year. The plant employs approximately 120 people.
"The decision to close this plant was very difficult," said Chuck Garlock, Reynolds Food Packaging - Canada General Manager. "Despite the outstanding efforts of our work force, the competitiveness and demands of the market cannot support this facility. This action will better position Reynolds Food Packaging to serve our customers and plan for future growth."
Reynolds Food Packaging - Canada will continue to maintain its distribution center and administrative offices in Laval and will continue to produce product in the Summerstown location.
The Laval plant produces plastic packaging products used in the supermarket, food processor and foodservice market segments.
Production is expected to continue into October when it will be consolidated into other Reynolds Food Packaging facilities.
