"The new plant, which has a 150 MT capacity, is the cornerstone of our growth strategy," said Jinan Song, Chairman and CEO of China-Biotics.

"We have started building the factory infrastructure which we hope to complete by the end of third quarter this year. We have already placed orders for all major equipment that we need."

The plant is expected to be completed during FY 2009 and, according to China-Biotics, will be the only large-scale probiotic plant in China to supply the domestic bulk additive market.

In a report published this morning on FLEXNEWS, China-Biotics, Inc., said it had signed a 1-year contract with Chinese bakery products firm Holiland to supply probiotics for Holiland's bakery products. The agreement runs through April 2009.
