Glanbia Appoints New CEO of Consumer Foods Ireland

12 December 2005 - Glanbia plc is pleased to announce that it has appointed Colin Gordon (BBS, MBS) as Chief Executive Officer of its Irish Consumer Foods business, effective from 1 March 2006.

In this role Colin will be responsible for managing one of the Group’s core areas of operation and for developing Glanbia’s position as the leading supplier of branded and value-added liquid milk, fresh dairy produce, cheeses, soups and spreads in the Irish retail market.Included in the Glanbia Irish brand portfolio is Avonmore (the number one brand in the Irish milk market), Yoplait, Kilmeaden and Premier.Colin succeeds the late Pat Brophy.

Colin joins Glanbia from C&C Group Plc, the drinks and snack food company, where he has been Managing Director of C&C (Ireland) Ltd since 1998. This business operates such brands as Club, 7 Up, Pepsi, Mi Wadi and Ballygowan. He joined the C&C Group in 1989 and has held various senior management positions over the last 16 years including Marketing Director of Showerings (now Bulmers Ltd.), Managing Director C&C (Wholesale) Ltd before being appointed to his current position. Colin has chaired Bord Bia’s Brand Forum Steering Group for the past five years and was recently appointed chair of the Prepared Consumer Foods Group in IBEC.
