Marshall, May 23 - Gov. Matt Blunt today announced that a Marshall business has been approved for $1.7 million in state tax credits from the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) to assist in the creation of at least 160 new jobs in the Marshall area.
“Our pro-jobs, pro-growth policies are working for Marshall and Missouri,” Gov. Blunt said. “Missouri has been recognized for sound fiscal management and our work to help bring more than 80,000 new jobs to our state in just over three years. I am pleased we are able to help this company create quality, good paying jobs in an area where they will find an outstanding workforce.”
ConAgra Foods Packaged Foods, LLC, has been approved for $1,700,330 in enhanced enterprise zone state tax credits for the creation of 160 new jobs and new investment of $43,000,000 at 200 Banquet Drive, Marshall.
Gov. Blunt has successfully restored order to a broken state budget. He inherited a devastated state economy in January 2005 that was $1.1 billion in the red and had lost 34,000 jobs in the previous four years. The governor enacted real lawsuit and workers’ compensation reforms within his first months in office and created the Missouri Quality Jobs Act which has helped create more than 22,000 new jobs across Missouri.
The Enhanced Enterprise Zone program was implemented in 2004. Enhanced enterprise zones are specified geographic areas designated by local governments and certified by the Department of Economic Development. Zone designation is based on certain demographic criteria, the potential to create sustainable jobs in a targeted industry and a demonstrated impact on local cluster development.
