27 May 2008 - Ukrainian confectionery products maker Konti plans to increase its share in the Russian candy market by 2010 from the current 3% to 5.6%.
According to reports in Ukraine’s press, Konti will see this increase happen after the company has built a production and logistics complex in Kusrk, Russia, near to its manufacturing facility.
The complex will reportedly occupy an area of 52,000 sq metres and will cost 6 billion rubles (USD 252.6 million).
The new site is expected to be operational in Q4 2008.
In August last year, FLEXNEWS reported that Konti would invest USD 49 million in the production of new sweets and biscuits at its existing plants. Also last year, in April, the confectionery firm said it would invest 8.65 million euro by 2010 in order to upscale its Russian factory located in Kursk.
Besides the Kursk facility in Russia, Konti, formerly known as Kiev-Konti, also owns 3 other plants in Ukraine, in the Donetsk, Konstantinovsk and Gorlovsk regions.
