9 June 2008 – Some 350 jobs may be under threat at Ferrari's bakeries in Wales after deliveries from subsidiary and supplier Best Bakeries were disturbed following a suspected arson attack, local media report.
Half of the workforce at Best Bakeries’ Hirwaun site was made redundant last week, as reported on FLEXNEWS. Some stock was destroyed a day later as a result of a fire, which led to 36 out of Ferrari’s 51 bakeries shutting down for the day. Some shops were understood to still be closed on Thursday.
The company is trying to get stock from a different source in a bid to keep the shops open, say the reports.
A spokesman from Ferrari’s was last week quoted as saying that jobs at Ferrari’s weren’t at risk in spite of Best Bakeries’problems.
