The new plant, which is Valio’s second production facility in Russia, is expected to process 300 tons of milk daily.

In August 2006, Valio informed FLEXNEWS of its Russian expansion plans. The company’s Senior Vice President, Pia Kontunen, said that over 30 million euro would be used to expand production capacities in Russia in the next few years.

At the time, Valio announced it would build a terminal for distribution and a production plant for processed cheese in Zvenogorod, near Moscow.

“We want to be able to serve better the growing supermarket chains in Russia”, Kontunen commented.
