Mumbai, June 20 - Retail giant Wal-Mart Stores Inc may set up a back-office centre in India's technology hub of Bangalore to cater to its multiple functions across the world, the Economic Times said on Friday, citing unidentified sources.

Wal-Mart, which has tie-ups with Indian outsourcers such as Infosys Technologies Ltd, is expanding its IT resources globally, including in India, but it has no plans to build a back-office on its own, a spokesperson told the newspaper.

"We currently have no plans for a captive development centre in India," it quoted the Wal-Mart spokesperson as saying.

The newspaper said Wal-Mart may firm up plans for the back-office unit only after the U.S. presidential elections later this year as the flight of jobs was a sensitive issue in the United States.
