Nestle-Fonterra JV to Build Yoghurt Plant in Bahia, Brazil

23 June 2008 - Fonterra-Nestle joint venture Dairy Partners America is planning to build a new yoghurt plant in Brazil to cater for growing local demand in Brazil.

New Zealand media reports say that the new plant will be built at Nestle's Feria de Santa site in the State of Bahia.

The yoghurt to be manufactured at the plant will tailored to the tastes of consumers in Bahia region, which has a population of around 50 million and represents approximately 20% of the total Brazilian chilled dairy market, add the reports.

Dairy Partners America operates 13 manufacturing sites across Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador.
